Return Policy

For Online Individual Customers:

If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, please contact us in order to return it within 15 days of receipt. Books must be in saleable condition. No returns will be accepted without prior authorization; please contact us (custserv@nanhai.com) for a return authorization number (RA#) before sending any books back.

When return conditions are met, full credit will be issued for use against future purchases within the next two years. No cash or refund checks will be issued.

Please Note: All software, audio CDs, audio tapes, DVDs, video CDs, and videotapes are non-returnable. In case of defect or damage, replacement with the same item only is allowed.

For Primary and Secondary Schools:

A written request is required for all returns. Requests for permission to return can be made by fax, mail, or e-mail. A return authorization number (RA#) will be issued for all accepted returns. The RA# should be marked clearly on the outside of the return package.

Requests to return must be made within 30 days of receipt of materials.

Materials must be in saleable condition.

Not all materials are returnable. Please e-mail us at custserv@nanhai.com or call us at (408) 380-8088 to confirm what can be returned.

For University Bookstores, Book Retailers and Distributors:

A written request is required for all returns, whether overstock, damaged or defective.

A return authorization number (RA#) must be assigned for all accepted returns. This number must be clearly visible on the outside of the package. Without the RA# on the outside of the package, delivery will be refused and the package will be returned at your expense.

The RA# is a 4-digit number located in the upper right-hand corner of the return authorization form. Please include all zeros.

Requests to return damaged, defective, and class-cancellation books must be made within 30 days of receipt of materials. Canceled class returns are subject to a 30% re-stocking fee. Returns that are greater than 50% of any initial order of more than 10 items are also subject to a 30% restocking fee.

When return conditions are met, full credit will be issued for use against future purchases. Any books received in less than saleable condition at our warehouse will be discarded and no credit given. If you desire to have such non-saleable items shipped back to you, please provide a UPS or USPS collect account along with your request.

Returns must be made within 90 days of receipt of authorization of return.

Overstock items:

Returns will be accepted for regular stock titles. All special-order books and out-of-print titles are non-returnable. Audiocassettes, videocassettes, audio CDs, computer software, VCDs and DVDs, are all non-returnable items.

Books in unmarked, saleable condition may be returned between three (3) months minimum and six (6) months maximum from invoice date. Price stickers or their remnants on items are unacceptable.

Invoices for return books must have been paid in full prior to any return.

Requests for return authorization must include the correct invoice number, the invoice date, and original quantity purchased. Requests with incorrect invoice numbers will automatically be refused.

Customer account must be in good standing and not more than 90 days overdue.

Defective or Damaged Books:

Returns may be made for exchange or account credit only within 30 days or receipt and must be clearly marked as defective or damaged.

For Electronically Downloaded Files:

All sales for electronically downloadable contents (including mp3 files) are final. There are no returns or refunds on any downloaded contents. If you purchase any electronically downloadable contents from our store and experience technical problems with the download, please contact our customer service.

Shipping Policy

Risk of Loss and Damage:

All items purchased from Nan Hai Books are made pursuant to a shipment contract. This means that the risk of loss and title for such items pass to you upon our delivery to the carrier

UPS is our preferred shipping method. We strongly recommend that you do not use USPS Media Mail due to the post office cut back and their reduced service of USPS Media Mail. Use USPS Media Mail at your own risk.

Lost, delayed or address adjustment due to address error submitted by customers will result in additional fees being charged to your credit card.

For international shipments, customers are responsible for any tax and duty enforced by the destination country on incoming shipments from the United States.
